Farm manager required for Farm in Hekpoort / Hartebeespoort.

Basic Job Description of applicant:

Plan, direct, or coordinate the management or operation of the pig farms, operations, or other establishments.
May hire, train, or supervise farm workers or contract for services to carry out the day-to-day activities of the managed operation.

Duties of the required Farm Manager include:

To maintain the pig farm infrastructure in an “always fit for purpose” state. This includes:

Road infrastructure
Water reticulation
Electricity network
Perimeter Fencing
Fire breaks
Dam maintenance
Access control
All common areas: e.g. swimming pool, entertainment centre, workshop and store
Waste management
Maintain all Farm Assets in a good state of repair and ensure that they are only used for farm purposes unless authorised by the Directors.

Keeping of detailed logbooks in all vehicles
Regular routine preventative maintenance
Training of drivers/operators to appropriately utilise the assets
Manage the Fauna and Flora of the farm that is in keeping with guidance from experts in the field and environmental regulations. This will involve:

Regular animal counts being undertaken to establish the ratio of pigs to carrying capacity of the farm and to make regular recommendations to the Directors on removing or increasing animals on the farm.

Ensure that building and other material is kept neat and that excess material is removed.

Ensure that the general appearance of the farm is upheld in a manner befitting a pig farm.

Manage all the direct and indirect labour utilised on the farm. This includes:

Labour employed on a permanent basis by the farm
Labour employed on a temporary basis by the farm and used for farm purposes.
Contractors employed on behalf of directors. In this regard, the Farm Managers duties will be limited to managing access control and not the direct management of the work undertaken

Added services that the Farm manager, or other farm employees, may provide Directors as a separate contract include:

Cleaning services
Building and building maintenance
Vehicle repair and maintenance
Laundry services
Security alarm monitoring

Pig Farming: 5 years (Preferred)
