ATM files papers to oppose Cyril Ramaphosa’s review of Phala Phala report

The African Transformation Movement has delivered on its promise to oppose President Cyril Ramaphosa’s application to review the Section 89 report into the Phala Phala farm robbery.

The party filed papers in the Constitutional Court on Monday.

It says the report is not reviewable as the findings contained in them are not binding or final, and the president’s review application aims to impede the functions of Parliament.

It also says the president hasn’t justified his claims that the report is irrational.

In Ramaphosa’s review application, ATM’s Vuyo Zungula is listed as one of the respondents along with the members of the independent panel and the National Assembly Speaker.

The ATM has previously labelled the president’s review application as dishonest and accused him of putting personal interests ahead of the country.

The report found the information placed before the panel disclosed prima facie evidence, that Ramaphosa may have committed serious violations of the law and the constitution.

Parliament is set to debate and vote on the report on Tuesday.
