Suspended GOOD Party’s Peter de Villiers barred from party activities over alleged s.e.xual misconduct

Suspended GOOD Party member Peter de Villiers has been barred from taking part in any party activities pending investigations into alleged misconduct.

De Villiers represents GOOD as a member of the Cape Provincial Legislature.

The party announced his suspension on Friday after allegations of s.e.xual misconduct.

It’s understood a complaint was lodged against him by one of the party’s staff members.

It’s not the first time de Villiers has faced sexual misconduct allegations.

Similar claims were made against him in 2008 during his stint as Springboks coach, but the matter was later closed.

GOOD party secretary-general Brett Heron said the latest allegations were now being probed.

“GOOD’s constitution is unambiguous on gender relations and gender-based violence. The constitution applies to all members, regardless of position. De Villiers’ suspension is not a finding of guilt; it reflects the seriousness of the allegations. The party will implement disciplinary processes to determine if the provisions of its constitution have been breached.”
