Penny Lebyane has no regrets on speaking out against Ex

TV and radio personality Penny Lebyane had spoken out about her experiences of emotional abuse she suffered in the hands of her ex who is also in the entertainment industry. When she was younger she had found nude pictures of an underaged girl in his laptop and detailed through her social media posts that she had knowledge of his affairs with teenagers and university girls. Out of curiosity and suspicions, she had to page through his laptop and much to her dismay, the images of those girls appeared and she alleges they were taken with his camera.
“I was shocked, hurt and traumatized. I deleted all the naked girls’ pictures he kept on his files. I will never forget.” She wrote She further added how people only take you seriously when you detail everything, no matter how graphic. Speaking to Drum Magazine, she says her reasons for speaking out were sparked by the recent tragedies aimed at women in the country. “I’m about nation-building and not the frivolous things of the entertainment industry.” She adds.
Being in the public platform that she is in for more than 2 decades, she says her purpose is not to be pretty but to help other people, sometimes at the expense of her own privacy. Penny has lost a lot of work in the past, due to her speaking and having a ‘no bars hold’ personality. Lebyane was not physically abused however she was emotionally abused and she could only take so much.
“I’m no cop-out, I meant what I said.” She said during her interview. The radio personality never mentioned any names in her social media posts, and has stated that she has suffered a lot of emotional abuse from the said ex boyfriend. No lawsuit will silence her as this country allows people to talk freely.
