Pearl Thusi shares the struggles she faced because of her skin tone

Pearl Thusi shared a series of tweets in which she talked about her own struggles as a light-skinned black woman. The presenter and actress has addressed this matter in the past, and it seems like it remains an important topic for her.

Pearl was reacting to social media users who said that darker women have it harder in the entertainment industry, whereas those who are lighter don’t even need talent.

Pearl went on to add that people blaming lighter-skinned people for any favour they get isn’t right. “I’ve never denied colourism. But if you’ve never been fair skinned – you can’t speak on our hardships as well.

Being stripped of your identity because you don’t fit people’s moulds is tough. “And to blame a light-skinned person for the favour they get is ridiculous.
