#NationalShutdown: SACP calls for peaceful protests

The SACP is the latest to condemn threats of intimidation during the planned national shutdown on Monday.

The party is urging all those who need to report to work or access services to do so without fear.

There are concerns the EFF’s planned shutdown will lead to thuggery and looting.

There have been threats on social media and chat groups in recent days.

“When you shut down other people’s businesses violently you are destroying democracy,” said the SACP’s Alex Mashilo.

“The moment you intimidate and threaten workers and buisness to mobilise political action, you are engaging in political thuggery.”
