ANC treasurer-general Paul Mashatile says Mpho Moerane is the best candidate for the job of Johannesburg mayor.
Moerane was elected unopposed on Friday.
He was Environment and Infrastructure Services MMC and is ANC Johannesburg regional treasurer.
“He is the best candidate for the job, coming with a lot of experience, before he came into government he was also in the private sector so he will bring a lot of that experience,” he said.
“He has also been in the mayoral committee in charge of very important areas of delivery, your City Power, Joburg Water, and so on. So he comes with a lot of experience and we do believe he is the right man for the job at the moment.”
