Controversial pastor Paseka ‘Mboro’ Motsoeneng will continue his bid for freedom next week after yet another failed attempt.
On Monday, Mboro approached the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court to appeal a judgment remanding him in custody until his next appearance, scheduled for 21 October.
In August, the Incredible Happenings Ministry pastor was arrested and charged on 12 counts, including kidnapping, trespassing, intimidation, and possession of unlicenced firearms, alongside his bodyguard Clement Baloyi and a close relative.
Magistrate Katlego Mokoena released the third accused on warning and denied Mboro and Baloyi bail, citing grammatical errors in their bail affidavits and poorly supported assurances to the court that they would not pose as flight risks.
The trio was arrested after a viral video showed them brandishing weapons at Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong on the East Rand in an alleged custody dispute.
Since then, Mboro has been behind bars before a quick turnaround on Monday, where he expressed fear of damage being caused to his vehicles at his church, in his absence.
“I was talking to God. The cases we opened, they’re not being entertained – some on my cars are being destroyed, the church has burnt down by the family.”
In his appeal, which has been postponed to 9 September, Mboro alleged he was being fed drugs by fellow inmates.
He remains behind bars.
