Photos: Police officer shoots man for parking wrongly

When Nkosana Bila went to visit his friend, little did he know it would cause trouble for him. This is because the 25-year-old was allegedly shot by a traffic cop while visiting a friend in Roodekop, Ekurhuleni, last month. And the shooting was sparked by Nkosana “parking wrongly”.
On top of that, the traffic cop allegedly slashed all the four tyres of Nkosana’s car.
In a video of the incident, the cop can also be seen dragging Nkosana in the street.
He then put his foot on his stomach and shouts that he is under arrest.
Nkosana said on the day of the incident, the cop found him and his friend standing next to the car.
“He started swearing at me for parking wrongly. I told him I will remove the car but he got more irritated,” he said.
He said his friend told him the cop was not on speaking terms with his father, which explained his reaction.
“I was told the cop had once pointed my friend’s father with his service pistol and he reported him. His gun was taken.
“The gun he used to shoot at me on that day was his personal one. He tried to shoot the first time, but the gun jammed. The second time, the bullet missed us and the third one caught me on the thigh, not far from my 4-5,” he said. Nkosana alleged that before he shot him, the cop threatened to stab him with a knife.
“He then pierced all my car tyres, saying he was teaching me a lesson to park right.
I don’t know why he didn’t give me a ticket if he felt I was wrong.
“We are worried the case might not go anywhere because we are told the investigating officer is the cop’s friend,” he said.
Nkosana’s father Nceba said: fears the case might be swept under the carpet.“I want justice for my son. Watching the video brings tears to my eyes. It is by the grace of God that the bullet missed his manhood.”
“He could have given my son a ticket, but he did what he did because he wanted to prove a point,” he said.
Residents told the publication they will be happy if something was done about the cop. as this was not the first incident.
“He’s abusing his powers and wants his presence felt. If Nkosana parked wrongly, he should have given him a ticket,” said a resident.
Captain Molatelo Ramotshela said an attempted murder case was opened at Alberton Police Station. The cop was arrested and will appear in court again today, 13 May.
