Panyaza Lesufi suspects arsonists for torching of Sebokeng school

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says he believes that the fire that broke out at Khutlo-Tharo Secondary School to be the work of arsonists. A block at a school in Sebokeng was set ablaze in the early hours of on Wednesday morning.

Pupils at the Khutlo-Tharo Secondary School have been sent home, while Gauteng Premier David Makhura and Lesufi are visiting the school.

Lesufi says the school has been attacked 17 times since August.

“Where we stand we really believe that they are arsonists that are out there, thugs to correctly summarise it that are targeting our schools and are burning our schools,” Lesufi said.

“We can’t in 15 days have three schools that are burnt down, actually there are four. We are told that by the time this school was attacked, there is a nearby school that was attacked.”

“Unfortunately not burnt down.”
