Panel recommends eight nominees for Chief Justice position

A panel has recommended eight nominees for the position of Chief Justice. Around 148 submissions were made for 25 names.
The final eight candidates are Judge President John Hlophe, Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, Justice Mandisa Maya, Wallace Amos Mgoqi, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, Judge President Dunstan Mlambo, Alan Nelson, and Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
A panel will consider objections before submitting a shortlist of three to five names to President Cyril Ramaphosa. That will be by 29 October.
