“It is believed that a single vehicle was involved in the shooting incident before overturning across the center island and coming to rest on its side.

“A male believed to be in his forties was found inside the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was assessed by paramedics, however, he had sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing more paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene,” Jamieson said.

Investigation

Jamieson added that authorities including the police were on the scene.

“At this stage, the events leading up to the incident are unknown, however, Saps were on the scene and will be investigating further,” he said.

Drive-by shooting

Last month, one person believed to be in his forties was also killed and another wounded in a drive-by shooting in the KZN.

It is understood that the shooting took place in Berea, at an Engen service station, just before 1.30 pm.

Jamieson said the authorities were already on the crime scene when they arrived.

“Jamieson said on arrival, paramedics found Saps and metro police had cordoned off the area and found a bullet-ridden vehicle parked of at the garage.”

“On closer inspection, a male passenger believed to be in his forties has sustained multiple gunshot wounds and unfortunately, there’s nothing more paramedics could do for him and he was declared dead at the scene,” Jamieson said.

Jamieson said the driver of the vehicle was rushed to a private hospital for a further care and that authorities were on scene for further investigations.
