Desmond Tutu family overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of love, says Patricia de Lille

Public Works Minister Patricia de Lille says the family of the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu is so overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of love from South Africans and the rest of the world.

De Lille, who was a close friend of the Arch remembers him fondly.

“He talked about the purple rain day. We always used to listen, who is going to lead the march.”

“If the Archbishop is going to be there, we know the chances of us getting sprayed with gas or with water or what, is very limited because they were afraid of him but on that day, it just came out of the blue, at least it wasn’t harmful.”
