One dead two critical in truck and bakkie accident

At 08H48 Monday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a serious collision at the R603 and R624 (Umbumbulo and Richmond Road) intersection.

Reports from the scene indicate that a truck and bakkie were involved in a collision.

Paramedics assessed the scene and found that the truck driver escaped injury however three occupants of the bakkie all adult females sustained serious injuries.

Rescue crews had to use the Jaws of Life to free them from the vehicle.

The driver and back passenger required Advanced Life Support intervention to stabilise them.

The front passenger sustained critical injuries.

Due to the nature of the patients injuries the Netcare 5 specialised helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift the patient to hospital.

While the patient was being treated her condition deteriorated and she sadly had succumbed to her injuries.

All necessary authorities were on scene.
