At 05H46 Monday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the corners of Woodmead Drive and Woodlands Drive in Woodmead, Sandton.
Reports from the scene indicate that a mini-bus taxi and a light motor vehicle were involved in a collision resulting in the taxi rolling.
Approximately twenty patients sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.
One person, an adult male sadly sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.
Due to the nature of the seriously injured patient the Netcare 1 Specialised Helicopter Air Ambulance was activated to airlift the patient to hospital.
A Netcare 911 Rescue technicians had to use the Jaws of Life to access the patients trapped in the taxi.
All necessary authorities were on scene.
