The International Students Office is a small and energetic team that is looking for a dynamic individual who wants to contribute to the internationalisation vision of the University.

The main purpose of this position/job is:
To contribute to the effectiveness of the International Students Office by being responsible for providing a professional and efficient service to potential students, applicants and all registered international students.
To administer the US Federal Aid, adhere to US Regulations and educating students on their US Federal Loan responsibilities and attending to queries.
To provide effective liaison and communication with administrative and Faculty offices which work in conjunction with the International Students Office to facilitate international students’ positive interaction on campus and with the South African culture and history.
This position also provides support to the processing of the department’s day to day finances, financial assistance relating to student projects and reconciliation of Project Accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

The effective and efficient administration of the US Federal Aid and Scholarship Fund(s);
Identifying, developing, managing and supporting the student life activities and events for international students;
Liaising with the International Students Sub-Council and university stakeholders;
Processing of the financial assistance relating to student projects and reconciliation of accounts;
Managing the procurement and processing of the finances for the department.

Requirements:

Minimum Diploma (NQF Level 6). A Bachelor’s degree would be advantageous;
3-4 years’ relevant experience;
Administrative and finance management experience;
Attention to detail and numeracy literacy is required;
Ability to demonstrate initiative and good public relations skills;
Liaising with University stakeholders to arrange student events;
Capacity to work independently, be deadline driven and communicate well (written and verbal);
Must be prepared to work beyond standard working hours, if and when required;
Knowledge of the University’s procedures, software packages, (SIMS) would be advantageous;
Computer literacy is essential (MS Word, Excel, Internet, e-mail);
The ability to work under pressure and deliver a professional service;
High level of competence and organisation skills;
High level of honesty and integrity are essential.

The office values team work and the incumbent will be required to participate in all team projects.

NB: All shortlisted candidates will be required to engage in a one and a half hour exercise as part of the selection process on the day of the interview.
