Nzimande speaks on hot cross bun debate

Transport Minister Blade Nzimande is warning motorists against drinking and driving and claiming to have eaten hot cross buns.
Nzimande’s comments follow a video that has gone viral on social media which shows a traffic officer getting a positive result for alcohol on a breathalyser test after eating a bun.
The minister says what is shown in the video is not true, and those who drink and drive will be arrested.
“People must not hope that they are going to drink, get onto the road and when they are caught they then say: ‘Oh sorry officer, all I had was a hot cross bun,'” said Nzimande.
Nzimande adds that if a motorist smells of alcohol, a traffic officer is allowed to take them in.
“If you smell of alcohol and the traffic officer has a right to take you off the road and go and test you.”
