NSFAS brings in auditing firms to help with backlogs

National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) says it has brought in auditing firms to help with payment backlogs and accommodation issues faced by students being funded by the scheme.

NSFAS administrator, Freeman Nomvalo, has given an update on developments related to the implementation of his mandate. Nomvalo says they have introduced a task team to find solutions for the outstanding issues.

“We have brought in the services of KPMG and BDO to assist us on three key areas: the close out report, annual financial systems as well as students’ accommodation issues. The intention is to be able to deal with the backlog but at the same time to design processes and systems for the future so that the problems we’ve experienced do not recur
