NPA gets access to State Capture Inquiry’s database

The Director-General of the Justice and Constitutional Development Department, Doctor Mashabane has announced that the department will grant the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) access to the Commission of Inquiry into allegations of State Capture‘s database. The information will involve the documentation of investigations generated through the course of former Chief Justice Raymond Zondo’s inquiry on state capture.
Mashabane briefed the media alongside the NPA earlier in Cape Town today.
“Part of the understanding was that the capabilities would be made available for law enforcement agencies of the Republic for utilisation post the commission. Since the department is the custodian of the Commission’s Act. And all the work that commissions from time to time do administratively get supported by the department in many ways. It was agreed that such assets would be transferred to the department for management.
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is in Parliament this morning to appraise the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Security on the access by the NPA and other Law Enforcement Agencies to the State Capture Commission (SCC) data and documents. pic.twitter.com/1ey4v9zIcO
