Struggle for women not yet over, says Ramaphosa

Women need to be uplifted to levels equal to men.

That’s the word from President Cyril Ramaphosa.

He says despite the progress women have made since 1956, their struggles continue today.

Ramaphosa was speaking at the National Women’s Day event in Richmond, KwaZulu-Natal.

“The women of South Africa today have attained a number of rights and opportunities that their great mothers were denied for years and years.

“The struggle of the women in our country is not done yet. There is still a mighty struggle that needs to be engaged,” he said.

“We still need to uplift women of our country to a level where they are equal to men.
