#NoSchoolBagChallenge: Student rocks up with a coffin at school – Photo

SOCIAL media challenges have become very popular over the last few years.

The latest one to go viral on social media is the #NoSchoolBagChallenge, which has become a hit with pupils at various schools.

On Friday 11 March, Kgomotso High School in Pampierstad, Northern Cape, dedicated a whole day to the challenge, encouraging pupils to come to school carrying their books in anything but a school bag.

The day was a blast for pupils, who used everything they could think of, including wheelbarrows, baskets and cooler boxes.

One pupil shocked many when he rocked up at school carrying his things in a baby coffin. The light brown coffin with gold decorations and handles caught everyone’s attention and classmates all wanted a photo of him with his coffin.

While many pupils said he was clearly the winner and deserved a trophy, others were shocked.

Ahead of the challenge, the school wrote on its Facebook page: “Dear parents, guardians and caregivers. Please note that our pupils will be participating in the #NoSchoolBagChallenge tomorrow. Pupils are allowed to bring their books in anything except their normal school bag.

“Please support them when they ask to bring their books in your wheelbarrow. I’m told during break time it will be a battle of Mrapas, where our hip-hop fanatics will be showcasing their talents. It’s a normal school day and will end as normal.”

Social media was abuzz after photos of the boy carrying the coffin went viral.

Katlego Thuto Makwene wrote on Facebook: “I guess we have the winner.”

Jacqualine Nema wrote: “Of all schools in the nine provinces, I vote for you boy.”

Millicent T Msiza wrote: “This one, they’ve got a funeral parlour business at his home.”
