9-year-old hospitalised for non-fatal drowning

KwaZulu-Natal: At 18H49 Tuesday evening Netcare 911 responded to reports of a drowning at a residential complex in Umhlanga.

Reports from the scene indicate that a 9-year-old female was found unresponsive in swimming.

The patient once found was pulled out by a medical doctor who upon realizing the child was unresponsive and not breathing had started CPR.

Once Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioners arrived on the scene a full advanced life support resuscitation was initiated.

The patient was manually ventilator and a pulse successfully regained.

Once stabilised the patient was transported by ambulance to the hospital for further treatment.
