Nomzamo Mbatha’s foundation funds R1 Million in Bursaries

Nomzamo Mbatha is on cloud 9 after her Lighthouse Foundation announced that they had received another R500,000 pledge from Hollywood Bets. This comes after she initially announced R547,000 pledge that would be going towards helping deserving students stay in school or attend school. Nomzamo made the announcement on social media where she said

“ An extra R500 000 was pledged. Making it R1 million worth of bursaries. Thank you! Thank you Hollywoodbets. I can’t believe we get to change even more lives,
I never in a million years thought we would receive close to 40 000 entries/applications. All very compelling and from individuals who wanted to better their lives. My team was definitely working overtime to get through candidates with due diligence.

Nomzamo Mbatha went on to reveal that out of the 40,000 applications, they were able to select 60 bursary students who would be going to school.

She said, “We had close to 40 000 entries and managed to find over 60 beneficiaries to fund. Safe to say… one of the best days of my life so far. Having my foundation be a beacon of hope and refuge is a gift I don’t take for granted.  Each of the bursary recipients was invited to a special brunch which was held at the Fairmont Zimbali Resort.
