Nominations open for Mzansi’s next Chief of Justice

The public has been invited to submit their nominations for the country’s next chief judge. Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng’s 12-year term comes to an end in less than a month.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has decided that South Africans should have a say in choosing the next Chief Justice.
It’s aimed at promoting transparency and encouraging public participation. Anyone may submit the name to the presidency and government communications. Mogoeng, who took long leave in May, will finish his term on 11 October.
Ramaphosa will then appoint a new Chief Justice after consulting the Judicial Service Commission and political party leaders in Parliament.
