
Petrol attendant, Nkosikho Mbele who helped pay for a customer’s petrol who had forgot her bank card at home is going overseas.
According to the Shell South Africa Country Chair, Hloniphizwe Mtolo they have nominated Mbele to represent Mzansi at Shell’s Global Service Excellence Awards.
The awards will take place next year.
Mtolo further said that Mbele will also be celebrated at Shell’s Regional Service Excellence Awards, which takes place in Zanzibar.
Mbele could be heard over the phone that he was overjoyed about the news.
“Oh, wow… Wow… wow… wow. Is it this year? Thank you – my brother, I am really shocked. Thank you,” Mbele said.
On Monday, there was outrage on social media after BackaBuddy NPC issued a statement saying Mbele has asked that the money be administered by Backabuddy for his safety, as he does not live in a safe area.
The statement said that funds raised by the campaign will be administered by BackaBuddy NPC and transferred to the relevant institutions for Nkosi’s children’s education.
The funds will be used at Nkosi discretion for the purpose of his children’s education and building of the house as described.
Following that, BackaBuddy set the record straight and said Mbele would have full control of the funds.
BackaBuddy said he had asked the company to manage the money on his behalf.
