Nipsey Hussle’s killer was found guilty of first-degree murder

Eric R. Holder Jr was convicted of first-degree murder by a Los Angeles jury for the cold murder of American rapper and businessman Nipsey Hussle. Holder was found guilty of first-degree murder for the fatal shooting of the star. Hussle died at the age of 33 in the parking lot of his shop in Marathon on 31 March 2019.

According to NBC, Hussle’s killer was a former associate of the late rapper. The two reportedly grew up in the same neighbourhood and were both members of the Rollin’ 60s gang.

An argument between Holder and the deceased reportedly broke out earlier of the day when the rapper was killed, where the deceased accused his associate of being a snitch. The confrontation had angered Holder which led to him killing the star.
Holder shot the rapper at least 10 times and also reportedly kicked him in the head before fleeing the scene.

In court, Holder’s attorney, Aaron Jansen argued that the murder was not premeditated, but rather a crime of passion heated by the moment, People Magazine reported.

Two bystanders were also said to have been wounded in the crossfire. The 32-year-old gunman faces one count of first-degree murder for the deceased rapper and two counts of attempted first-degree murder for the wounded eyewitnesses.

In an opening statement, Deputy District Attorney John McKinney said he believed that Holder had ‘no doubt’ that he would kill the rapper. He showed the jury videos and pictures of the crime scene and its aftermath.

The pictures captured the shooting and the accused fleeing the scene dressed in a red shirt and a red bandana. In his hands were a semi-automatic gun and a revolver. Holder was later captured and arrested after a two-day manhunt.
