Nick Cannon thanks fans for support after his son’s death

Nick Cannon is appreciating support from fans at a difficult time. The multitalented showman, 41, returned to work on “The Nick Cannon Show” on Wednesday, a day after announcing the death of his 5-month-old son, Zen.

“People keep asking me how I’m doing. I say, ‘I’m vertical, I’m standing and, you know, that’s a good start,’” Cannon said. “I’m a little torn. I’m a little confused. Zen died from brain cancer Sunday after spending one last day with his parents, Cannon and model Alyssa Scott. Cannon tearfully broke the news Tuesday on his show.

“Yesterday, it was a little easier than today because yesterday I was so laser-focused and even numb,” Cannon said Wednesday. “It’s a hurting thing. He went on to thank everyone who reached out to him for their support and their love.

“It’s just been an outpouring of love that is really unexpected. I didn’t expect it from all over the world. I really can’t thank you guys enough,” Cannon said. “(Alyssa’s) making it, you know, five minutes at a time. But it’s those words really, the tweets, it’s outstanding. Cannon also addressed why he continued working days after his son’s death. To me, this isn’t work,” he said. “This is love, and I love you back. This is therapy for me. This is therapeutic.
