Neymar replies to Alvaro Gonzalez claiming he wasn’t racist

Marseille ran out 1-0 winners at the Parc des Princes but the scoreline pales into insignificance after the scenes we witnessed during the match.

In injury-time, there was a melee which saw FIVE players shown red cards.

One of those red cards was issued to Neymar, who punched Marseille’s Alvaro Gonzalez in the back of the head.

Throughout the 90 minutes, Neymar and Alvaro clashed with the Brazilian accusing the defender of racism.

A video shows Neymar saying ‘racismo no’ after an incident between Angel di Maria and Alvaro. Di Maria was accused of spitting on the Marseille player before the alleged racism.

Then when it all kicked off at the final whistle, Neymar took his chance by landing a soft knuckle punch to the back of Alvaro’s head.

After a VAR check, Neymar was dismissed and the PSG star took to Twitter immediately after the match.

He tweeted: “My only regret is not hitting that a*****e in the face.”

He soon followed that up with a more detailed version of events.

“VAR spotting my ‘attack’ is easy, Now I want to see it pick up the image of the racist calling me “MONO HIJO DE PUTA” (monkey motherfucker). That’s what I want to see. And then? I do a rainbow flick, you punish me .. For a slap, I get sent off … what about them? What then?”

Alvaro soon responded to the allegations of racism by tweeting himself.

He uploaded a photo of himself with exclusively non-white teammates and proclaimed that “there is no place for racism” and that “sometimes you have to learn to lose and take it on the field”.

But Neymar wasn’t having any of it.

He soon replied, tweeting: “You are not a man to assume your mistake, losing is part of the sport. Now insulting and bringing racism into our lives no, I don’t agree. I DON’T RESPECT YOU! YOU HAVE NO CHARACTER! Assume what you say mermon … be a MAN RAPÁ! RACIST.”

Let’s just hope Ligue 1 do a full investigation and, if Alvaro is found guilty of racism, that he’s punished heavily.

There’s no place for racism in football. Never was, never is and never will be.
