Late gospel star to be remembered on New Year’s Eve

The late award-winning gospel star, pastor Neyi Zimu, will be remembered on New Year’s Eve.

He will be remembered with The Sacred Fest, which will air on DStv’s One Gospel channel.

The gospel show is organised by the Thami Ngubeni Foundation and Avbob.

Various musicians will take to the stage.

The festival was previously held at Carnival City before Covid-19 hit the country.

Avbob said the only way to pay tribute to Neyi is through music.

“He used to heal many people with music. The perfect way to remember him,” it said. Zimu was popular for his hit song, Jehova Retshepile Wena, which won him awards including the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards. He worked with various gospel artists including Benjamin Dube. Zimu died in December 2019 after he lost his battle with skin cancer.
