In African culture and beliefs, a married woman must be conservative and not partake in frivolous activities. Most men are made to believe that a good wife material does not drink, enter clubs or bars and not smoke.
However, in these modern times, women have evolved and are emancipated breaking down the barriers. Just like this lady on Twitter, pictures of her traditional wedding were posted and she is shown enjoying a bottle of alcohol. This is still frowned upon by elders but the young generation has accepted this.
Many people were in awe but some praised her for being open and honest. Someone said she is a true Xhosa woman and has remained true to herself without compromising. Some people joked that after 2 bottles she will start acting wild in front of her in-laws. There was a lady sitting next to the bride that also caught people’s attention.
They assumed it was the brother’s sister. She clearly looked shocked and did not approve of her drinking alcohol. Nonetheless, her personality and good attitude is what matters even if she takes alcohol.
