Role Responsibility Summary:
Under limited supervision, is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, planning, and installation of communications networks and services
Performing troubleshooting to system failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of network
Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
Matric
Driver’s license
Beneficial:
BSc/BA in computer science, computer engineering or relevant field
Technical And Specialist Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
Minimum three years networking experience in a large scale multi-vendor network environment
Miktrotik RouterOS, Cisco IOS or other network operating systems knowledge is required
Basic programming and/or scripting knowledge preferred
Minimum 5 years experience with Linux or MS Windows OSs
Demonstrated experience in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, wireless LANs, security appliances, and other network hardware is required
Required experience with network techniques/protocols/software with specific emphasis on NAT, PPTP, VPN, LTE Technology and more
Must have experience with communications software, Internet software (e-mail, WWW, FTP, TFTP, etc.) and common desktop application packages such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
Job Requirements:
Must have sufficient experience working independently on most tasks, requiring only general direction
Exceptional customer service skills
Proven experience as a network technician or relevant position
Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills
Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, must be reachable by telephone to respond to emergencies
Must have the capability to travel throughout South-Africa for installation of services
Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies
Hands-on experience with common software and hardware
MTCNA/CCNA qualifications are strongly preferred
Able to do external antenna installations
Will be expected to work one weeknight shift every second month
Be presentable, have an excellent command of the English language and be able to compile reports
