Job Description
Internal policies, procedures and processes
Familiarization, adherence and compliance with all company policies and procedures
Familiarization, adherence and compliance with all applicable ISO 9000 processes and procedures
Assist with Site Surveys
Network Equipment installation is required in accordance with upgrades on the current equipment; or
New equipment must be implemented due to organizational requirements; or
Receive a request for the installation of equipment and analyze to determine the nature and extent of the installation
Determine dependencies and independencies to other equipment/systems and the applicable impact
Inform the equipment/system owners of dependent equipment/systems and the relevant actions required
Analyze the equipment/system specifications in terms of implementation requirements
Conduct the appropriate pre-implementation testing in accordance with test cases and scenarios
Assist in developing an installation plan to ensure smooth implementation
Determine the relevant role players involved in the installation/implementation and their responsibilities
Submit the necessary change requests for the installation/implementation indicating actions and dates
Deploy Network Infrastructure
Assist in the arranging the installation/implementation and ensure minimum interruption of system availability
Conduct the installation/implementation process in accordance with the implementation plan and association with Senior Network Engineer
Conduct the post-implementation testing in accordance with test specification
Close the change request in accordance with procedures
Monitor the equipment/system and dependent equipment/systems to ensure that the equipment/system operates according to standards and specifications
Document the installation/implementation process and archive for future reference purposes
Develop the appropriate equipment/system manuals where necessary
Install equipment/systems in accordance with policies, procedures and legal requirements
Install equipment/systems within the allocated time frames
The aforesaid in collaboration of the Senior Network Engineer
Troubleshooting and Corrective Maintenance
A fault is identified during the execution of preventative maintenance; or
Maintenance actions are initiated by a fault incident
Identify the fault utilising the necessary diagnostics and diagnostic tools
Consult the relevant work instructions/procedures to determine the repair actions required
Repair faults in accordance with standards and specifications; or
Escalate to the relevant role players for a solution
Test the solution to ensure that functionality is restored
Implement the solution in accordance with procedures; and
Monitor the solution for functionality on the site
Provide feedback to the relevant role players
Document results for future reference purposes
Conduct corrective maintenance in accordance with policies, procedures and legal requirements
Conduct corrective maintenance within allocated time frames
The aforesaid in collaboration of the Senior Network Engineer
Preventative Maintenance
Preventative Maintenance actions are initiated in accordance with policies and procedures; or
Maintenance actions are initiated by a fault incident
Determine the nature of the maintenance in accordance with the incident/schedule
Consult the relevant work instructions/procedures to determine the maintenance actions required
Complete the preventative maintenance in accordance with procedures; or
Identify the faults utilizing the relevant diagnostics
Repair faults in accordance with standards and specifications; or
Follow prescribed escalation path for a solution
Test the solution to ensure the functionality
Implement the solution in accordance with procedures; and
Monitor the solution for functionality on the site
Provide feedback to the relevant role players
Document results for future reference purposes
Conduct preventative maintenance in accordance with policies, procedures and legal requirements
Conduct preventative maintenance within allocated time frames
The aforesaid in collaboration of the Senior Network Engineer
Qualifications
Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
A related Tertiary qualification
CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or similar is a must
2-3 years experience in LAN & WAN
