Man’s body found in stream near highway

A body of a 45-year-old man was found floating in a stream near the Mabopane Highway in the Tshwane metro on Friday.

According to a local publication, the Tshwane Emergency Services water rescue technicians recovered the body from the stream near the Hebron off-ramp.

The City of Tshwane’s Emergency Services department spokesperson, Thabo Charles Mabaso, said when the water rescue technicians arrived, they launched a rubber duck boat into the stream and recovered the body of the man.

“The deceased person had bruises to the face and looked as if he had been in the water for more than a day,” said Mabaso.

The body was handed over to the South African Police Service.

An inquest docket has been opened for further investigation.
