IFP wants to meet with ANC’s national leadership amid spat
The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has agreed to peace talks with the African National Congress (ANC), however says it will only engage with the party’s national leadership.
Party President Velenkosini Hlabisa addressed the media in Durban on Friday.
His statement comes amid a controversy involving the ANC’s Siboniso Duma and the IFP’s Thulasizwe Buthelezi during the commemoration of King Dinuzulu last weekend.
While it was the ANC in KZN that requested the meeting, the IFP maintains that peace talks will not be fruitful at a provincial level.
On Wednesday, KZN ANC Provincial Secretary Bheki Mtolo wrote to IFP leader Hlabisa requesting a meeting to resolve the issues between the two parties.
