Nandipha Magudumana back in court to have arrest declared unlawful

Nandipha Magudumana is back in court on Thursday morning. The High Court in Bloemfontein will hear her bid to have her arrest declared illegal.

Magudumana argues she was not deported from Tanzania but abducted. She contends her continued imprisonment is in violation of the law and should be urgently resolved. Home Affairs, now recognised as the sixth respondent, strongly refutes her allegations.

It accuses her of deliberately lying to mislead the court. The department says all processes to bring her back were followed and she was arrested on South African soil. Magudumana and Thabo Bester fled the country after news of his elaborate escape broke.
