Nafiz Modack trial: New State witness expected to take stand

The trial of alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack, is set to continue on Wednesday with a new State witness taking the stand.
Modack and his 14 co-accused face 122 charges for various crimes, including the murder of top cop, Charl Kinnear, and the attempted murder of prominent attorney William Booth.
Booth has previously described to the court how he was almost murdered by two men, allegedly on behalf of Modack, in April 2020.
He told the court he narrowly escaped being shot in the driveway of his Higgovale home after he took on a client in a matter that implicated one of Modack’s co-accused, Jacques Cronje.
Booth said he assisted the client in a case of intimidation, kidnapping, and extortion against Cronje.
The State witness taking the stand on Wednesday is said to be the driver who escorted some of the accused to carry out the hit on Booth after Modack allegedly put a R3 million bounty on the attorney’s head.
