VIP Unit members expected to be charged over N1 assault

Members of Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s protection detail are expected to be arrested and charged on Sunday.

It’s understood IPID will charge them with assault in Sandton.

The eight were caught on camera allegedly assaulting three people on the N1.

It’s believed they will remain in custody until their first court appearance in Randburg on Monday.

The protectors were suspended after a public outcry over the incident.
