My Vote Counts wants political funding law strengthened

Advocacy group My Vote Counts has launched a legal challenge to strengthen the Political Party Funding Act.
The organisation wants the disclosure of all private donations, not only those above R100,000.
And it’s calling for a reduction of the upper limit of R15-million per donor.
The ANC has also proposed amendments to the act.
The party wants the R100,000 annual disclosure threshold raised to R250,000 or R500,000.
My Vote Counts says it’s evident that the Act fails to meet its constitutional aims and needs changing.
