Actor Mutodi Neshehe laid to rest
Award-winning actor Mutodi Neshehe has been laid to rest.
The talented actor, who was best known for his role as Ndalamo on SABC2 drama series Muvhango, was buried at West Park Cemetery, with his funeral being attended by close friends and family members due to lockdown regulations.
The star, who had been part of many South African TV productions, died last Thursday in hospital.
According to a family member who spoke to True Love magazine, he was struggling with breathing.
“He had been complaining about not breathing properly and it got worse. So he was rushed to hospital, where he unfortunately died.”
The family member said Mutodi had not been himself. “He had not been well for some time, which is why he kept a low profile even though he was an active person.”
His family yesterday held a drive-through memorial service, which was attended by industry friends and colleagues.
Speaking at the memorial, SABC publicist Lebo Malete said he was saddened by Mutodi’s death.
“I met him at work. He was like a brother to me, and a confidante – always there for me when I needed him. He was a great friend and our friendship was genuine. I am going to miss him dearly because he was God-sent.”
Seasoned actor Gabriel Temudzani, who plays Azwindini on Muvhango, conveyed his deepest condolences to Mutodi’s family.
“Saddened as we are, we need to accept God’s will. On behalf of Word of Mouth Pictures, from cast to crew, we were really shocked because with the little time we had with him, he played a huge role. Till today, some actors remember the fond memories they shared with him. He taught as a culture of caring and brotherhood,” he said.
