Amapiano pioneer, Papers 707 was finally laid to rest yesterday in Soweto, in funeral service fit for his free-spirited demeanor. The DJ died last week, and his unexpected death has left many shooketh in the country.
Due to the Covid-19 regulations, his funeral was attended by his family and close friends, but many watched it through a virtual service. Video clips of his funeral service have gone viral on Twitter, and they have received mixed reactions from the masses.
This follows as mourners were seen dancing at the cemetery.

Some tweeps believe this was cringe-worthy and it does not respect the African tradition. They say they should have done this after the funeral to respect the mourning family.
This is ridiculous. They could have done this at his house after the burial. We have divested ourselves of our culture of respecting the dead and burial sites.
What is next, people drinking at the burial site?— Vapopya 1.0 (@Vapopya1) July 21, 2020
In African culture this is rubbish, nothing can justify this….

But some tweeps weighed in and said DJ Papers was known for his impeccable dance moves and that was their way also to bid him farewell, as he loved a good vibe.
Mina I don’t understand why people are busy saying “This is ridiculous”… Kanti is it compulsory to be crying in a relationship? A funeral is also celebrating someone’s live, I mean the person was a DJ mus. Angithi when a soldier dies there’s guns firing. Manje? Stop complaining pic.twitter.com/qKIWpA9RHh
