Mthokozisi Ntumba murder-accused granted bail

The four police officers accused of killing Mthokozisi Ntumba have each been granted bail of R8,000 at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday. Ntumba was killed during the Wits student protest earlier this month.

Tshepiso Kekana, Cidraas Motseothata, Madimetja Legodi and Victor Mohammed are facing charges of murder, attempted murder, and defeating the ends of justice.

Madau Makondelele, the attorney for accused number two said, “the way the state prosecutor presented his case, he wanted to dwell on the merits of the case but the court did not want to go there. The court wanted to focus on what is in the interest of justice, for them to be released on bail.
