President Ramaphosa praises Motsoko Pheko’s contribution to the liberation struggle

President Cyril Ramaphosa has described renowned lawyer and author, Motsoko Pheko, as a champion of our liberation struggle, who fought for the rights of the landless.

Pheko died on Friday at the age of 93.

In his tribute, Ramaphosa said that the liberation hero made an invaluable contribution to human development and the intellectual heritage of the country and continent.

During his lifetime, Pheko led the PAC as its president and also penned several books, with theology, history and politics as some of his key topics.

Ramaphosa told journalists in KwaZulu-Natal, where he’s been campaigning ahead of the elections, that his own party, the ANC, Was saddened about Pheko’s passing.

“He is one of those leaders, even though he was working from a different organisation, who really dedicated himself and what he articulated and wrote about our struggle, the many books that he wrote are a real testament to the capability and stature of the man.”
