Motorists will be informed on e-tolls soon – Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula

Gauteng motorists will soon find out what is happening with e-tolls, according to Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula. He says there has been a back-and-forth in Treasury about what to do with the much-reviled system.

Many motorists have refused to pay for years now. Mbalula says a final decision will be announced before the end of this month.

“This year, one of the biggest press conferences is going to be about e-tolls, so look ahead for it as it is coming. We are attending to it,” he said. We’ve got to do it in concurrence with Treasury and then go back to Cabinet. Once Cabinet gives us a green light on the matter, we’ll be able to communicate.
