Motorists urged to travel only if necessary and to prioritise safety

Severe weather conditions are expected to persist in parts of the country, prompting Johannesburg Emergency Management Services to remain on high alert.

While Gauteng is not in the primary impact zones identified by the South African Weather Service, residents are still facing cold, wet weather, along with poor visibility and potentially slippery roads.

With temperatures dropping, many residents may be turning to heating devices to stay warm.

However, Joburg EMS is reminding everyone that these devices can pose significant fire hazards.

Motorists are advised to travel only if necessary and to prioritize safety on the roads.

City EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said: “From our side, as the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, we remain on high alert, monitoring all seven regions of the city for any emergencies that might occur.”
