Moroadi Cholota’s family not happy with delays in her bail application

The family of Ace Magashule’s former personal assistant, Moroadi Cholota, has expressed dismay over persistent delays in her bail application.

Cholota made her second appearance in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where the State submitted a comprehensive affidavit opposing her possible release.

The State believes she was involved in the looting of the R255 million asbestos tender and facilitated fraud and money laundering on Magashule’s behalf.

Cholota entered the dock, blowing kisses and winking at her family members who packed the public gallery.

They were cheerful and had wide smiles on their faces, seemingly hopeful she’d be granted bail.

But things took a different turn when the presiding magistrate, Estelle de Lange, refused to hear an oral submission from the defence and requesting that written arguments be submitted on Thursday.

Cholota’s father, Happy Tilotsane, said it seemed there were deliberate attempts to keep her in custody.

“I believe that justice must take its course but in this case, they are treating her unfairly,” he said.

The bail application is back in court on Thursday where the defence will submit its written arguments.
