This after canine teeth and paws were found missing. Akwaaba Predator Park in Rustenburg said they were shocked to find the lions slaughtered by poachers. Five lions were found poisoned and killed at the Akwaaba Predator Park on Tuesday.
It’s understood they were poisoned by a group of poachers who cut through the perimeter fence. The park’s manager, Pieter de Jager, said the men fled the scene when they saw security guards approaching.
“They came through the fence, poisoned the lions and cut off the paws. Security saw them and called me immediately. When we got there, they left everything and started running,” said De Jager.
He said they were offering a cash reward for any information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the poachers.
“A reward of R110 000 has been put out to the public for any information,” he said. Koster police spokesman, Sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi said: “No one has been arrested at this stage and investigations continue.”
Sangoma Makgonatjohle Seaparo said fake sangomas often misled people. “Muthi from killed animals does not work as the animals’ spirit is upset.” he said.
