Mnangagwa dismisses rumours of ‘palace coup’

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has dismissed rumours that a coup is being planned after a week of violent protesters against massive fuel-price increases.

The local media was awash with reports that serious fresh ructions have emerged in Zanu PF, resulting in two prominent members of the former liberation movement revealing explosive details over the past few days of an apparent plot to topple President Emmerson Mnangagwa from power.

“So serious is the plan to remove Mnangagwa from power,” one media house said.

Another media house claims that a threat of an internal revolt and possibility of a military-led ouster reportedly forced President Emmerson Mnangagwa to cut short his foreign jaunt and return home, as his close allies- ministers and legislators were being targeted.
