Judgment expected in Busisiwe Mkhwebane and Ramaphosa’s CR17 saga

Judgment is expected in the case involving President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Public Protector. Ramaphosa wants a judicial review on Busisiwe Mkhwebane‘s report on his ANC presidential campaign funding. Mkhwebane found that the president misled Parliament about an R500,000 Bosasa payment.

Ramaphosa says he wasn’t aware of the donation made to his CR17 campaign. He further says Mkhwebane doesn’t have the jurisdiction to investigate donations made to a private political campaign. Ramaphosa wants the courts to keep secret his foundation’s bank statements and those of other entities related to his CR17 campaign.
