DA tables new motion of no confidence against Mkhwebane
The Parliamentary process to remove the Public Protector has been delayed. The DA has withdrawn its no-confidence motion and submitted a new one.
National Assembly Speaker, Thandi Modise, was meant to announce an external panel to look into the motion at the end of this month.
She will now have to apply her mind to the new submission.
If she approves the motion, the process of appointing a panel will have to start again.
The DA says its new submission has over 7-thousand pages of evidence.
It accuses Mkwhwebane of failing to conduct her work independently and of having a poor understanding of the law.
