Popular Mzansi media personality, Minnie Dlamini is the next celeb to take the hot seat in the Showmax Roast of Minnie Dlamini, but the TV star has used the opportunity to grill her ex-husband, Quinton Jones.
In 2022, Minnie announced her separation from the TV producer. Since then, the former couple have made headlines over their custody battle and reports of spousal support.
The roast will air on Friday, 26 April on Showmax.
The Showmax Roast of Minnie Dlamini – not to be confused with the Comedy Central Roast – was recorded earlier this month at the Laugh Africa Comedy Festival in Sandton.
The episode will air on Showmax’s streaming platform on 26 April.
The guest panelists include celebs like Celeste Ntuli, Lasizwe, Trevor Gumbi, and Robert Marawa, amongst others.
Stand-up comedians Jason Goliath and Tumi Morake will share the role of roastmaster.
Minnie said in a statement of the opportunity: “This is a moment for me to turn lemons into lemonade. This is a moment for me to see and hear a lot of the things that people have been saying about me [which were cruel and mean] and turn what was said into something light and fun.
“In addition to that, this is a celebration of myself and my career. So my roast will surely be a good day at the office – what a way to get paid!”
In a trailer released this week, Minnie Dlamini was seen cringing at a few shady swipes by the panellists, which included plenty of fat jokes, failed marriage quips, and low-blows about her “lack of” intelligence.
But Minnie was quick to throw shade, too. And in one scene, the 33-year-old mom-of-one showed her ex, Quinton Jones, flames.
She boldly says: “I’ve got one last thing to say. I’m not paying no f**king maintenance”.
Minnie is likely referring to a Sunday World report that she pays R10 000 in monthly spousal support cheques.
In other teasers, Minnie continues to poke fun at her ex-husband, who is referred to as “Mr Jones.”
